Program: 17,6 km line of tramway
The Tampere region is expected to grow by more than 90 000 citizens in the next two decades. Therefore, the city needs environmentally friendly and efficiently running public transport. The city already has a popular bus system but the new tram will provide new, faster public transport. The tram will connect the city from the eastern side through the city centre all the way to the western parts of Tampere.
The City of Tampere aspires to make public transport more attractive to citizens, and this makes an easy-to-use tram system crucial. The new tram system will be designed so that most people in Tampere will have easy access to the tram. The tram system will also be part of the planning in new housing projects.
