Introduction: A New Era of Innovation is Coming

The third print edition of City Leaders once again provides a detailed snapshot of the European real estate market. This year’s magazine outlines the major developments, largest deals and key economic and demographic trends in the continent’s 100 leading cities.

The City Leaders project is a joint initiative by MIPIM and Property EU. The city profiles are based on submissions from the cities themselves as well as Property EU’s comprehensive news and research databases. This year’s edition also boasts key research reports and data on urban trends from several industry giants, including Real Capital Analytics, Oxford Economics and retail specialist Multi.

What’s more, real estate professionals can find even more value by heading online.  In addition to a full conference and exhibitor overview, the new MIPIM website - available at www.mipim.com - also contains the new Mymipim portal where visitors can access essential information to arrange meetings, accommodation, marketing opportunities and more. Elsewhere on the MIPIM website, the new Real Estate Resource Centre provides industry content to complement your visit and the MIPIM World Blog gives you the latest news and research from the international real estate sector.

The City Leaders website is regularly updated with news and features from PropertyEU’s daily news feed and boasts full profiles of a further 50 European cities. This means property professionals can access at any time up-to-date information on the key trends and developments in 150 European cities.  

Together we hope the two websites provide industry professionals with an invaluable knowledge base.

The need for this knowledge is currently vitally important. The situation on the ground remains challenging for developers and investors alike. Continued national austerity measures and local budget cuts in major markets have seen large-scale projects either slowed down or cancelled altogether.  

This uncertain climate requires continued innovation from the European real estate community. MIPIM provides an ideal platform to host the exchange of ideas and collaboration needed to foster this innovation. This year’s 24th edition promises to bring together the most influential players from all international property sectors - office, residential, retail, healthcare, sport, logistics and industrial - offering unrivalled access to the greatest number of development projects and sources of capital worldwide.

This year’s event will see a number of new projects that highlight the vitality of the real estate industry even in these difficult times: the large pavilions organised by large European capitals and key cities will be there to showcase the latest developments, as well as private developers, investors and service providers that will present their projects and services. The new MIPIM Innovation Forum will host a 1,000 m2 showcase on smart cities, and a dedicated conference programme to help visitors increase the value of property assets.
